i am in love with yinka shonibare!

joel and I caught his exhibition at the brooklyn museum – amazing!

the most vibrant textiles and fashions (apparently mostly  are dutch wax textiles sourced from brixton market, although some he has custom printed with his own designs) – his detail down to the shoes and spats is incredible.

I love his juztapostion of african textiles with bourgeois fashions. his approach is very playful and a bit cheeky which I loved.

my favourite piece (if i had to pick just one)is the The Swing (after Fragonard)

based on an iconic Rococo painting by Jean-Honoré Fragonard, The Swing (Les hazards heureux de l’escarpolette), 1767

Amazing combination of the wax prints and African clothing styles! I work for a company that sells the wax prints as well as African clothing imported directly. Check it out! Africa Imports
