Spring 2011 – Marios Schwab

This show, Marios Schwab, is one from LFW  in particular that I have really struggled with in my mind.
There’s so much I want to love, but that I just can’t make sense of. And, so many pieces that I just find so tough to outfit, or actually wear.
But then there are alot of pieces that feel really new, and exciting, and inspiring. And they’re the pieces I’ll focus on here.

What’s not to love about leather & lace? It appeals to my grunge sensibilities, and inspires me to pull out all my old slips and lingerie. I think what’s nice about this collection, though, is the silhouette. The belted waists, the layering, and structure versus fluidity. Definitely a concept I’d like to play with in the future.

So, despite my initial tug-of-war between loving & hating this collection, I can truly say that Marios has left quite an impression.  And I think I like it.
